Building My Own AI Agent with n8n: A Simple Walkthrough for Real Enterprise Value

I wanted to share a quick story about how I recently built an AI-powered agent using the n8n platform. I know there’s a lot of hype around “agents” and automation these days, but I wanted to see what it actually looks like to put one together for a real business use case—without getting lost in technical jargon.

The Use Case (in plain English): My goal was to automate how I gather and use information from AI newsletters. Instead of manually reading, copying, and summarizing articles, I wanted a system that could:

* Collect newsletter emails automatically,

* Summarize the key points,

* Store everything neatly in a Notion database,

* And then, take those summaries and turn them into a LinkedIn post (even translating it to German for extra challenge).

Why does this matter for enterprise? In big companies, we’re always dealing with too much information and too many tools that don’t talk to each other. The real value here is making knowledge flow automatically—so teams can focus on decisions, not data wrangling. Plus, with compliance and audit needs, you want automation that’s reliable and traceable, not just “smart.”

How I did it (keeping it simple):

* I used n8n, which is a no-code/low-code workflow tool.

* The workflow grabs emails from my inbox, uses AI to summarize them, and saves the results in Notion.

* Then, another workflow takes those summaries, compiles them, translates them, and posts to LinkedIn—all hands-off.

What I learned:

* You don’t need to be a developer to build something useful with n8n.

* The “agentic” approach (letting AI do the heavy lifting, but with clear rules and human oversight) is perfect for enterprise, where you need both automation and control.

* This kind of setup can save hours every week and make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
